After a shipwreck, Daniel arrives to a tiny, deserted, forbidden Atlantic island that used to host biological warfare experiments. There he meets Grock, a starling being, halfway between man and sheep, whose rather simple worldview barely includes anything more than himself (Grock) and a vague overseas reference (Glasgow).

Little by little, the two characters start to get closer to each other. They eventually exchange garments, just for fun, and that game will bring death to Grock. A group of scientists and military men from Glasgow try to kill Daniel because his exposure to the poisonous atmosphere of the island has made of him a potential contaminating agent, but they shoot Grock, the mad shepherd, instead.

Daniel, in a sheep-like outfit, remains alone in the wasted island, next to Grock's corpse, and ponders. May be this was not that not the first time... May be he is a part of a cycle... A chain of Grocks in time.
